:: horseshoes :

Simple, but fun layout for today!

I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut the title. I started by typing "Horseshoes" in bebas font. Then, I went in to the symmetrical letters and erase one half. Finally, I added a dashed line on the edges of those letters so they would fold easily. Before I cut, it looked like this:

I used Mister Huey spray ink to spray the wood veneer triangles at the top, and then added some white with a white out pen.

I'm linking this up to Paper Issues Current Issue : In The Navy.  The link party goes through July 6th -- plenty of time to join the party!

:: a layout & some exciting news ::

As always, I am loving this month's sketch over at Scrapbook Circle.

I love that oversized, square, photo in this Diana Fisher sketch!  Here's my take on it using mostly June's Scrapbook Circle kit, Hello There.

I loved using all the fun phrase stickers from the kit! I used ten different words/phrases on this one layout!

And the exciting news….

I will be joining the team as a guest designer -- more information as we get closer to my guest spot time!  :-)  Congratulations to all of the Creative Team members! I am so excited for this opportunity!  If you've followed my blog for even a short amount of time you will know that I am passionate about the quality and design of the kits at Scrapbook Circle!

:: hello ice cream man ::

I finally got a chance to dig into my June Swag Bag from Paper Issues.  At first I thought I might use all of the awesome cards for Project Life.  But, as I laid out the cards to see what was included in the kit, this layout was born.

The colors in this kit are awesome!  I used some Crate Paper vellum (backed with white card stock) for my base.  I've been hoarding the vellum for a long time, and I hated to cover it up, but it was perfect for this LO.  The circle die cut behind the main photo also came in a Swag Bag; I altered it by misting with some Heidi Swapp Color Shine.

To be honest, when I saw the "this is the sweet life", I knew I needed to turn this into a layout with B's first ice cream man experience!

For the hidden journal spot, I used some textured white card stock (came in the Swag Bag).  I painted it with gelatos and a water brush for an ombre effect.  Then I printed my journaling on card stock, cut it out and added it.  I forgot a few words, so I added them in pen.  Done!

I'm linking this LO up with Paper Issues current issue.  It's a link-y party!  Join in the fun!

:: #amazing sidewalk chalk ::

Scrapbook Circle is having a #hashtag challenge! Their June kit {Hello There} has a SBC exclusive stamp that includes #iloveyou and #amazing, I used them both.  :-)

As soon as I saw the amazing colors included in this month's kit, I was excited because I already had these photos to show off!

That's all for now!  Thanks for stopping by!

:: outside ::

I had a bunch of fun with this one! Here's another LO I made last weekend with my May Scrapbook Circle kit.

This story is all about taking our African Grey Parrot, Higgins, outside (in his cage) for the first time. I used a bunch of Amy Tangerine's Plus One collection (patterned papers and some puffy stickers). My favorite part is the patterned paper.  It started with a white on grey pattern. I grabbed my gelatos and a water brush and painted each of the hearts a yellow green.  Then I used other colors to paint several of the chevron patterns. My goal was to pull out some of the bright colors in the photo, and I really wanted to use the bird washi (a gift from my awesome sister-in-law)!  Once I finished painting, I outlined the painted chevrons with a black pen. Simple design for this layout, but I love how it turned out!

:: impromptu neighborhood cleanup ::

Hello friends! I'm back with another layout that I made this past weekend with the May (High Five) Scrapbook Circle Kit. I think this is one of the many kits from them that will get completely used up.  I love each and every item in this one!

Our neighbors let their grass grow pretty tall next to the fence.  A day or so after they trimmed it, Bea and two of the neighbors decided they needed to clean up all the dead, dry grass.  They attached a sled to the back of Bea's wagon, grabbed a few brooms and went to work.  Don't worry!  I got the story down! See where it says "May 30, 2014"?  That tab pulls out and viola!  The story is there!  (I know you were worried)!

Thanks for stopping by!  See you again soon!

:: nesting ::

I absolutely love the May (High Five) Scrapbook Circle Kit!  Because May is so unbelievably crazy at work, I didn't really get to dig into it until this past Saturday (which also happened to be the day my June Scrapbook Circle Kit (Hello There) arrived)!  Luckily, I attended an all day scrap on Saturday and  completed several LOs.  Today I'm sharing a fairly simple layout!

I absolutely love this PInk Paislee (First Class) patterned paper!  I left a bunch of "white space" on this one to show it off -- (and I was afraid it would get a bit too busy if I added much more).  All I added was black card stock, a few doodles and journaling with my white signo pen (the best), and some alphas.  The hearts are wood veneer hearts that I "painted" with gelatos and a water brush!  Done, yo!

Thanks for stopping by!  I'll be back with more soon -- really soon!!!

:: goodbye preschool ::

This is an excited B. on her first day of preschool, last August.
I remember thinking she looked so big.  I love that she is so happy.

This photo was taken this morning, her last day of preschool.
Flowers for her teachers. So grown up. So happy.

I love you batman girl!
