..:: favorite circles ::..

Hi Friends! I am  up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with this layout using three pieces of flair from the Geo Love Flair Set. I am using mostly Pinkfresh Studio papers from the Flyover States July kit from Paper Issues.

I started by formatting my photo in Photo Shop so that it was shaped like a circle and just under 3 inches. Then I used my 3 inch punch to punch my photo out with a bit of a white border.

The Pinkfresh studio paper from their Office Hours collection had tons of circles on it -- so I punched them out as well using my 1, 1.5, and two inch paper punches. I also punched some tiny circles that I'm going to guess are 1/2 inch or smaller! I splattered some inks for pops of color, and then I sprinkled the circles across the page and added my flair! I mean you cannot have a circle layout without flair, right?

This flair matches the colors of this collection perfectly!

When I shared this photo as an instagram post I titled it "some of my favorite circles", which became the title for this layout. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you again soon! XO o.g.

..:: piano contest ::..

Hi! I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with a new layout using flair from three different flair sets! I started with a white piece of card stock and I painted my background using several different Shimmerz Paints. Here is my layout:

And here are a few close ups:

I used several Shimmerz Paints to create my background: Creameez Berry Hot, Just Peachy, Daffodil, and Lettuce Get Together as well as Inklingz Blue Lagoon.

I used flair from three different {a flair for button} flair sets: Just Hearts 2 Flair set, Watercolors Flair set, and Take a Picture 1 Flair set.

For my papers I used Shimelle's Box of Crayons that I purchased at Paper Issues.

I had a ton of fun creating this layout and I even made a process video if that suits your fancy!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you again soon!

..:: outside love ::..

Hi friends! I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog with a layout using several flair buttons and a bunch of Shimmerz Paints!  Here's my layout:

This is one of those times that I started with the flair. I knew they matched these pictures perfectly, so I grabbed them and printed off my photos.

You may recognize that gorgeous Flutterby cut file! If you remember, I had cut them too small the first time, but I saved them because I knew I would use them. There were sitting there on my desk so I just had to use them!

I actually started by creating a background paper using several Shimmerz Vibez mists that matched my flair. Then I used that background paper to cut butterfly shapes to go behind the cut file. Finally, I stitched with gold thread down the center. I absolutely love how these butterflies turned out! Here are the paints I used:

The flair I used are from this fair set:

I made a video of my process if that suits your fancy!

Don't forget, if you are purchasing any Shimmerz products, put my name (orange gearle) in the comments and you will get a little something extra in your order!

Thanks for stopping by and see you again soon!

:: toni from designs : new flair shop ::

Hi friends!  A friend of mine just opened up a new Etsy shop, and she gave me some flair to play around with!

This flair is from her back to school set!  It was the inspiration for most of the colors in my layout!

I grabbed the colors from the flair (and added one from B.'s dress) and found ink in my stash.  I used Ali Edward's new stamp set, on textured white paper and stamped on the diagonal across the page. Viola, patterned paper.

I also stamped on the insert between this two page layout to pull it together.

(more awesome flair from Toni)!

This LO is really a few stories that happened the same morning.  The morning that B. turned five, happened to coincide with her first day of AK (alternative kindergarten) and she got an awesome present!  So I put the stories in the middle in a 6x12 pocket, so I had more room for photos!  :-)

Thanks Toni for letting my play with your new flair!

Toni will be adding new flair to her Etsty shop every Monday!  You can follow her here:

Scrap Your Story :: Hello Cheap Trick

It's FRIDAY!  You know what that means, a great challenge @ the Scrap Your Story Challenge Blog! This week we are working with an awesome sketch!   The sketch (as seen on the right), was a fun one to work with! Two photos, a giant circle,and both a vertical and horizontal line. I stayed fairly true to the sketch, but remember, you can flip, rotate, tweak, whatever you need! I hope to see you play along with us this week!  I grabbed my June Kit from Scrapbook Circle, a few scraps from my scrap box and this is what I came up with :

This past weekend the three of us attended a concert at the zoo in Apple Valley, MN. We had front row seats at this outdoor, all-ages show.  It was Bea's first concert! You will see more photos from this trip at some point; I am currently working on a mini book all about it!

I took the main background paper (Basic Grey :: Bow Ties :: kick the can) and cut a big circle on my Silhouette, then placed another piece of patterned paper (Farmhouse Paper Company :: where ideas take root) behind it. I machine stitched around the circle to define it a bit more, and then added a few stitches in other locations (can never have enough stitches!).  The bright orange arrows are all from the kit as well, they are fuzzy rub-ons (part of the Hipster collection by Basic Grey). I also added some wood veneer shapes that I tinted with orange ink. The "hello" is also from the Hipster Collection, and the "cheap trick" is from Recollections. This was a fun layout to make!

Check out Scrap Your Story and play along this week! I can't wait to see what you come up with!

:: strawberries ::

I'm having a great time participating in LOAD 513. I really don't plan on posting each layout that I do -- I just don't have that kind of time -- but I'm awake, so I might as well.  :-)
I took this photo -- and then I stamped the date on!  You can see that below
If you recall, our theme for the month is "Get a Clue" (from the Clue game). So each day our prompt has something to do with the game. Day two's prompt was "the knife".  So we were to "take a stab at" something, and/or interpret as we wish.  :-)  I used machine stitching, some distressing, and then in the close-ups you will see that I pierced the paper in three locations, 2 brads, and then a stick pin.  I thought the stick pin met the prompt!

These photos were from nearly two years ago -- she was so little!  Her hair was so much shorter!  Wow!

No time for listing supplies this time! Please just ask in the comments if you want to know where something came from! Thanks!
