..:: right now this girl ::..

HI Friends! I am up on the Paper Issues blog today layout and process video for the February Sketch Challenge! Here is a look at my layout :

Here is the sketch :

I followed the main idea of the sketch -- a wreath design with two overlapping photos and some embellishments in two clusters. I didn't follow it exactly, but I think you can tell I used this sketch as inspiration for sure. I also used my Silhouette Cameo software and a sketch pen to journal around the circle!

I cut the Heart Wreath free cut file out of white card stock, then I backed some of the hearts with papers from the 6x6 Doodlebug Love Notes paper pack.  Before putting it down on the page, I added some pink and read Vicki Boutin paint behind the cut file.

I stitched some of the hearts using some yellow embroidery floss. I also added some to my photo, because the sketch indicates some embellishment on the photo.

I used a couple of banners and speech bubbles from the Chit Chat Ephemera pack as embellishment along the wreath and also in the top left and bottom right of the page.

For my title I cut "This Girl" free hand out of the same 6x6 papers I used to back the cut file. Each sentence in my journaling starts with the words, "Right now this girl", so that's what I used as my title.

I did make a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

2020 blues

Hi Friends! I am up on the Papers Issues blog today with a layout I created for the February Name Game challenge in the Paper Issues {Friends and Fans} Facebook group!  Here's a look at my project:

Here is the idea of the challenge :  using the letters in your name, choose scrapbook elements that begin with each letter.   So I chose to use my social media name "Orange" Gearle. I used : Orange, Ripped paper, Arrow, Numbers, Grid design (and green and grey), and Ephemera. Here are a few close up images:

I added some mixed media to the background and then some fun layers and tangled thread for added pops of color and texture.

I told the story with a few strips of journaling. I also added a card behind the journaling that contained the lyrics to the song that she wrote, called 2020 Blues

I chose items mostly from the Unforgettable collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studios. This challenge was super fun! I enjoyed brain storming a list of ideas for each letter. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

..:: world kindness day ::..

Hello Friends!  I am up on the Paper Issues Blog today with a layout for the Take 5 Challenge going on over in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group.  For this challenge I used 2 photos, silver, sequins, black, and enamel dots.  Here is a look at my layout:

Here is the challenge:

I started with the Heart Multiplied free cut file from Paper Issues. I used white card stock to cut it out, with the idea that I would back it with pretty papers!  There are hearts included in the cut file that you can cut to back the file -- it works perfectly. I used papers from the 6x8 pad in the Unforgettable collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio to cut out hearts to back my file, and a few extras to layer. Here are a couple close ups:

Once I had the file backed, I sewed down the of the filled hearts using my sewing machine.  I also layered some extra hearts, sewing them down the middle, to use as embellishment across my page. I grabbed some flowers and leaves from the embellishment package and clustered those around the page as well.

I made a video of my process, if that's something that suits your fancy!

..:: mas margaritas ::..

Hi!  I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with a layout for you featuring several pieces of flair from the {a flair for buttons} etsy shop!  Here is a look at my layout:

I used three pieces of flair from two different flair sets.

This striped flair went perfectly with all the rainbow stripes on my layout. I found this piece in the Take a Picture 1 Flair set.  The two pieces below were obviously perfect for my subject matter, and found in the Tropical Vacation 2 flair set. I must admit, I chose my papers based on the margarita flair!

This story was all about going to a new restaurant in town to celebrate a family birthday. I used Amy Tangerine's Slice of Life collection for this layout and a journal spot from the ephemera pack to help tell this story.

I also made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

..::create::..

Hello friends!  I am up on the Paper Issues Blog today with this layout I created for the Split Personality Challenge over in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group.  For the challenge I chose to split my layout in half diagonally.  Here is a look at my layout :

I used ephemera and several patterned papers from Vicki Boutin's Wildflower & Honey collection and I fussy cut them all! Then I layered them across half of my page to create the diagonal design. I saved a few of them to place in the upper left corner to balance things out a bit.

I printed my journaling using my computer and added black Thickers of a couple of different sizes for my title. Finally, I added some butterflies and splatters for the final touch. Here are a few close ups of my project:

..: joy with you ::..

Hello! I have been absent from this blog -- but I'm back to share with you more often! Today I am here to share a layout and process video that I made for the Scrap Lift Sunday (SLS) challenge of in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} facebook group. There are so many challenges each month and they are so worth checking out!  For this layout I used Pretty Little Studio's Glitter & Ice collection. It is designed by Kim Watson and available in the Paper Issues Store.  Use the code OrangeGearle for 20% off your entire order. Here is my scrap lift :

And here is Kat Benjamin's original :

I stuck pretty close to the original design, but still remained true to my style. Here are a few close ups:

..:: cheap trick ::..

Hello!  I am up on the A Flair for Buttons blog with a layout using some beautiful black and white flair from three different flair sets!  I used Amy Tangerine's Slice of Life collection that I purchased at Paper Issues (use the code OrangeGearle for 20% off you purchase). Here is my layout :

I started this layout by typing up my journaling in the Silhouette software. Then I had my Cameo print the journaling on white card stock using a sketch pen. I knew I wanted to tell a longer story for this one, so I incorporated it into the design of the page.

This story is about an experience at a Cheap Trick concert, so the notes in the Rock On 3 Flair were perfect for this layout. I also loved the idea of the black and white, so I grabbed a couple of other black and white pieces, too.

I layered some papers from the 6x6 paper pad behind my photo and popped the photos up with craft foam. I put the other two pieces of flair on either side to create a visual triangle on the page.

This flair came from the Bright Triangle Flair set.

This piece came from the Brave Soul Flair set. I love this piece so much!!

Finally I added a few colorful pieces of patterned paper in strips at the bottom, a boarder at the top with a piece of 12x12 paper from the collection, a few bits of thread, some stitching and splatters to finish it off. I just love layouts with black and white and pops of color!

..:: favorite circles ::..

Hi Friends! I am  up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with this layout using three pieces of flair from the Geo Love Flair Set. I am using mostly Pinkfresh Studio papers from the Flyover States July kit from Paper Issues.

I started by formatting my photo in Photo Shop so that it was shaped like a circle and just under 3 inches. Then I used my 3 inch punch to punch my photo out with a bit of a white border.

The Pinkfresh studio paper from their Office Hours collection had tons of circles on it -- so I punched them out as well using my 1, 1.5, and two inch paper punches. I also punched some tiny circles that I'm going to guess are 1/2 inch or smaller! I splattered some inks for pops of color, and then I sprinkled the circles across the page and added my flair! I mean you cannot have a circle layout without flair, right?

This flair matches the colors of this collection perfectly!

When I shared this photo as an instagram post I titled it "some of my favorite circles", which became the title for this layout. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thanks so much for stopping by! See you again soon! XO o.g.
