..:: spring ::..

Hi friends! I am up on The Cut Shoppe blog today with a layout I made using the Geo Flower cut file -- which is a Freebie FriYay file available here.  Here is my layout:

Here are a few close ups:

I used Turn the Page by Paige Taylor Evans to back my file and I used a piece from flair from {a flair for buttons}.

I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see you again soon!

..:: outside love ::..

Hi friends! I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog with a layout using several flair buttons and a bunch of Shimmerz Paints!  Here's my layout:

This is one of those times that I started with the flair. I knew they matched these pictures perfectly, so I grabbed them and printed off my photos.

You may recognize that gorgeous Flutterby cut file! If you remember, I had cut them too small the first time, but I saved them because I knew I would use them. There were sitting there on my desk so I just had to use them!

I actually started by creating a background paper using several Shimmerz Vibez mists that matched my flair. Then I used that background paper to cut butterfly shapes to go behind the cut file. Finally, I stitched with gold thread down the center. I absolutely love how these butterflies turned out! Here are the paints I used:

The flair I used are from this fair set:

I made a video of my process if that suits your fancy!

Don't forget, if you are purchasing any Shimmerz products, put my name (orange gearle) in the comments and you will get a little something extra in your order!

..:: fly high ::..

Hi Friends! I am up on The Cut Shoppe Blog today with a layout I made using a new cut file called Flutterby. I also used a bunch of Shimmerz Paints on my background and I love how it turned out -- here is my project.

I knew I wanted to use Paige Evans' Pick Me Up collection that I had just gotten in the mail from the Paper Issues Store, so I grabbed a bunch of Shimmerz products to match the colors in the collection. I used several Creameez, an Inklings, some Vibez, and a Coloringz! For a complete list, check the comments in the process video.

I actually cut this file twice. The first time I cut it too small -- so I cut it again. I used the larger piece for my main circle of butterflies. I cut three of the smaller butterflies out of the circle (with my scissors) and layered them on top. I love how that ended up working out!

I also made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

..:: love ::..

Hi friends! Sharing a little bit of MJ love on the {a flair for buttons} blog today!

I was actually able to combine three of my favorite things in this layout -- Color Cast Designs products, Shimmerz Paints, and flair from {a flair for buttons}! Here are a few close ups:

The 'love' comes from Color Cast Designs January release "Into You" set which can be found here.

I made a process video if that something that suits your fancy!

I used several shades of blue Shimmerz Vibez for this layout (Snow Way Man, Cold as Ice, and Frost Bite). You can grab them here.  If you mention my name at check out you will get a little extra something included in your order for free!

The flair I used came from the Phrases 1 Flair set.  I love the messy circles on the flair!

..:: chucks ::..

Hi friends! Here to share my most recent assignment for Hip Kit Club -- and a process video.  My assignment this week was to use the Main Kit only. I am using the 2018 January Main kit for this layout.  I started with a gorgeous cut file by Kim Watson -- available under the cut files tab here

I decided to go big or go home with this one and I cut it out as big as possible.  Then I backed it with the rainbow Hip Kit Club Exclusive paper found in the main kit (also designed by Kim Watson). I cut the cut file into two parts so that I have it go off the edge of the paper on two sides.

I stitched around the flower cut file with several colors of floss -- and I love how that turned out!!!

To finish off the layout, I used the Hip Kit Club exclusive die cut ephemera -- and then fussy cut a few extra flowers from the opposite side of that rainbow paper. I also added a few black and white elements from the Vicki Boutin stickers included in the kit.

I also made a video of my process, if that suits your fancy.

..:: santa watch ::..

Hi friends!  I'm sharing the layout I made this past week for Hip Kit Club. This is my first layout using the November kits -- and they are fantastic. My assignment was to use a cut file. And I LOVE the cut files this month. Here's a look a my project.

The photos were taken last year, Christmas Eve, and she was so excited that Santa would soon be here.  Here is a close up of that gorgeous cut file:

I added lots of layers behind my photo. There is so much awesome in the kits this month that it was easy to find lots of elements to layer behind my photo.  A couple more close ups:

And I made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

..:: autumn splendor ::..

I was up on the Hip Kit Club blog with another layout this week. We are talking about gratitude this week, and I have so many things to be grateful about. For this layout I chose "autumn splendor" as my thing to be thankful for. This photo was taken about three autumns ago, and the maple trees are simply beautiful (and match that Pinkfresh Studio paper perfectly).

I used this fabulous cut file by Kim Watson to cut leaves out of several different patterned papers from the October Main Kit. I used the same papers for various sizes of rectangles to put behind some of the leaves to create a grid. I stitched around all of the rectangles as well as around the border of the page to add some texture and definition to the shapes.

I used the exclusive alphas from the main kit as part of my title and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the word "splendor". I actually cut the file out twice and glued them together to give the word a little more thickness.

And I made a process video if that suits your fancy.

..:: choose your own path today ::..

Hi friends! I have another layout for you using the October Hip Kit Club Kits! Here is what I came up with this week!

I started with the watercolor paper that came in the Color Kit and added a bit of color to it! I also used a torn strip of the HKC exclusive paper by Kimberly.

I used all the leaves I could find in the kit (except the green ones). And I cut out one of the free cut files, and backed it with patterned paper.

The title is another one of those gorgeous giant words by Dear Lizzy -- I painted it with Shimmerz Mango Tango!

I also made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

..:: fabulous girl ::..

Hi friends!  I'm sharing another layout that I made using the September Hip Kits and a free cut file by Jessica Fabiano.  My assignment this week had a focus on the Mixed Media Kit, and was part of the Mixed Media Monday blogpost on the Hip Kit Club Blog.

I started with some of the Shimmerz Tuscan Sun Spritz included in the Mixed Media Kit. I saturated the bottom half of the white card stock and then applied some salt while it was still wet. The salt reacts with the paint and changes the look. You get something that looks like this:

I also added some splatters of the Tuscan Sun Spritz as well as the Caribbean Sunset Spritz to add just a touch more texture.

I backed the flower cut file with paper from Paige Taylor Evans Turn the Page collection (paper 2) and I just love how that looks!

Tangled thread and more splatters for the win. But don't take my word for it! Check out my process video if that suits your fancy!

:: my true north ::

It's a new issue on the Paper Issues blog -- and I got to play along!

The issue, Let's Get Knot-ical. is a great theme for this time of year.  Some suggested theme ideas: anything you can do on the water; use a compass on your project, ship's wheel, sailboat or ocean creatures as embellishments; add knots to your project; beach vacation, Father's Day, etc.

I used a compass to fit the theme. This layout is all about my One True Love, my True North.

I used products from Pink Fresh Studios for most of my layout, along with some Tim Holtz phrase stickers and watercolors, of course!
