..:: candy cane wishes ::.. Hip Kit Club 12 Days Of Giving Blog Hop

Hi friends! Have you heard? Hip Kit Club is having 12 Days of Giving -- free cut files and printables each day for the first twelve days of December! Today is my day to participate in the blog hop.

The DT is sharing projects featuring the free goodies.  I'm up for Day 10 with Michelle Whorwood, and we both have layouts showcasing today's free cut file designed by me!.  You can get it for free over at the Hip Kit website under the Cut Files Tab. Here is my layout:

And here is the cut file that I used:

I used the Citron Green Distress Oxide from the November Color Kit to"paint" my background. I also used a blending tool and the stencil included in the kit to add a few subtle snowflakes to the background. I also used the same distress ink to create an ombre effect on the word "wishes" in my title.

As for the cut file, I backed several of the small candy canes and the title with patterned paper. Then after gluing them down a bit, I stitched with gold thread to make it look as if the candy canes are handing from thread.

Here are a couple of close ups:

There are so many exclusives in the November kits -- and I used a little from from most of them for this layout! This was so fun to make.

I also made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

Next stop Michelle Whorwood!

..:: santa watch ::..

Hi friends!  I'm sharing the layout I made this past week for Hip Kit Club. This is my first layout using the November kits -- and they are fantastic. My assignment was to use a cut file. And I LOVE the cut files this month. Here's a look a my project.

The photos were taken last year, Christmas Eve, and she was so excited that Santa would soon be here.  Here is a close up of that gorgeous cut file:

I added lots of layers behind my photo. There is so much awesome in the kits this month that it was easy to find lots of elements to layer behind my photo.  A couple more close ups:

And I made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

..:: autumn splendor ::..

I was up on the Hip Kit Club blog with another layout this week. We are talking about gratitude this week, and I have so many things to be grateful about. For this layout I chose "autumn splendor" as my thing to be thankful for. This photo was taken about three autumns ago, and the maple trees are simply beautiful (and match that Pinkfresh Studio paper perfectly).

I used this fabulous cut file by Kim Watson to cut leaves out of several different patterned papers from the October Main Kit. I used the same papers for various sizes of rectangles to put behind some of the leaves to create a grid. I stitched around all of the rectangles as well as around the border of the page to add some texture and definition to the shapes.

I used the exclusive alphas from the main kit as part of my title and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the word "splendor". I actually cut the file out twice and glued them together to give the word a little more thickness.

And I made a process video if that suits your fancy.

..:: love & hugs ::..

Hi friends! Thought you might want to see the layout I made for Hip Kit Club this week!  I made this layout in about 15 minutes with scraps from the October Hip Kits that were laying on my desk! It was awesome! I've never had a layout come together that quickly!  Here's a look:

I had fussy cut some flowers and cut a cut file for an earlier layout and didn't use them all, so they were sitting there on my desk staring at me! So I threw them on the page. 😀

I kept this layout simple, with just a few pieces of patterned paper, some ink splatters with the Shimmerz Paints found in The Color Kit (Lapis Dance and Old Yeller) and the flowers. The splatters  bring out the blue from the photo, and that golden yellow is to die for! I added a Hip Kit Club Exclusive Project Life card behind the photo for another pop of blue.

The flowers on this Jen Hadfield paper are gorgeous, and I love the little sprigs from that Hip Kit Club cut file (designed by Jessica Fabiano).

I made a process video if that suits your fancy!

..:: choose your own path today ::..

Hi friends! I have another layout for you using the October Hip Kit Club Kits! Here is what I came up with this week!

I started with the watercolor paper that came in the Color Kit and added a bit of color to it! I also used a torn strip of the HKC exclusive paper by Kimberly.

I used all the leaves I could find in the kit (except the green ones). And I cut out one of the free cut files, and backed it with patterned paper.

The title is another one of those gorgeous giant words by Dear Lizzy -- I painted it with Shimmerz Mango Tango!

I also made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

..:: adventure ::..

Hi friends! Today I have a layout for you that I made using the October Hip Kit Club Kits! My assignment this week was a sketch  and here is my take on it:

I pretty much love everything about the October kits and this lovely color that I focused on is to die for. There are papers, embellishments and Shimmerz that all work together perfectly.

I thought this was the perfect phrase for this layout of me and my daughter trying something for the first time (her, not me)! She was brave and didn't let her "head" get in the way as she was learning to skate.

I cut some stars and stitched them down with gold thread. I also added color to that giant title from Dear Lizzy (spoiler alert, you are going to see more of these)!

I absolutely love this Shimmerz color --- Old Yeller Inklings --- it's a perfect golden, shimmery, yellow. I made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

..:: grand smiles ::..

Hi friends! Here today with a layout that I made for the Hip Kit Club this week.  My assignment this week was a product focus -- using the Paige Taylor Evans stamp set in the September Embellishment Kit.

I grabbed some coral ink by Hero Arts and stamped that flower about a 110x (give or take). And then I cut them out!

I used Tuscan Sun Shimmerz Spritz and Caribbean Sun Shimmerz Spritz (both from the September Color Kit) to create a background for my photo, and to anchor the flowers a bit.

I used both exclusive alpha (from the September Main kit and the Embellishment kit) for my title.

This was a super fun layout -- and I love how it turned out. I made a process video if that suits your fancy!

..:: fabulous girl ::..

Hi friends!  I'm sharing another layout that I made using the September Hip Kits and a free cut file by Jessica Fabiano.  My assignment this week had a focus on the Mixed Media Kit, and was part of the Mixed Media Monday blogpost on the Hip Kit Club Blog.

I started with some of the Shimmerz Tuscan Sun Spritz included in the Mixed Media Kit. I saturated the bottom half of the white card stock and then applied some salt while it was still wet. The salt reacts with the paint and changes the look. You get something that looks like this:

I also added some splatters of the Tuscan Sun Spritz as well as the Caribbean Sunset Spritz to add just a touch more texture.

I backed the flower cut file with paper from Paige Taylor Evans Turn the Page collection (paper 2) and I just love how that looks!

Tangled thread and more splatters for the win. But don't take my word for it! Check out my process video if that suits your fancy!

..:: birthday glider girl ::..

Hello friends! I'd like to share a layout I made using an amazing sketch by Missy Whidden. I used the September Hip Kit Club Kits for this layout.  Here's a look at my final product.

And a few close-ups:

Lots of Paige Taylor Evans Turn the Page collection! 💗

THESE ALPHAS! The coral alphas are a Hip Kit exclusive and I LOVE THEM! I used the g-i-r-l from the word "glitter" found on the Shimelle Phrase Thickers  - both are in the September Embellishment kit.

I made a process video if that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by -- see you again tomorrow with another layout using the September HKC kits!

..:: project life ::..

Hi friends!  Guess what? I've been secretly working on Project Life and not sharing it here. :-) I started PL back up in July of this year because I miss this project! It is probably one of my most favorite projects that I will never complete! LOL But the way I look at it: one week done is better than none. Here is the first week of September:

Left side:

Right Side:

This week I got the opportunity to work with the Hip Kit Club PL kit! I absolutely love the exclusive cards and other goodies available in the kit. I did mix in a few things from other September HKC kits, which I explain a little bit more in my process video, if that suits your fancy.

..:: finally #bffsleepover ::..

Hi friends!  I'm here with another Hip Kit Club DT layout. This layout is using the main kit only, and my first LO using September kits. My assignment was stitching -- and boy did I use stitching!

For this layout I used pattern papers from Paige Taylor Evan's Turn the Page collection by Pink Paislee. I used Paper 8 as my background paper and Paper 12 for the border and to make part of my title. I cut the word "FINALLY" freehand and then stitched around it using embroidery floss.

I used several pieces of ephemera from the ephemera pack included in the kit (also from Turn the Page). And of course some thread from my stash for a few more pops of color.

I love the exclusive alphas this month. They are beautiful! And not one piece of chipboard is wasted because there are all these colorful hearts, dots, stars, and asterisks included with those alphas. I used a few of the hearts around my page, too.

Lots of machine stitching with blue and gold to finish it off.

I made a process video if that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by! See you soon!

..:: happiness is here ::..

Hello!  Last week my first LO for Hip Kit Club went live and I'm so excited to share here, now. My challenge this week was to use the September 8th Sketch (can be found in the HKC member forum on FB).  I hadn't gotten my September Kits yet, so I used items that can be found in the August kits -- which is a whole lot of Maggie Holmes Carousel.

Here are a few close ups:

I made a video of my process, if that suits your fancy:

Thanks for stopping by!  Look for another layout coming later this week using the gorgeous September Hip Kits!
