..:: photog ::..

Hi! Orange Gearle here with a layout for the Touchy Feely Challenge over in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook page. For this challenge you are to use a lot of TEXTURE (like texture paste, textured paper, mesh, fabric, ribbon, etc).  I decided to add texture by stitching with my machine, adding pop dots, and lots of tangled thread throughout the page. Here's a look at my take on this challenge:

I used the Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolor set that is available in the store, here, to create the stripes of color behind the photo, and then stitched after it was dry. This is what all that stitching looks like up close:

As you can see, I popped all those little bits up off the page and added tangled thread under the photos. All of those little bits are from Amy Tangerine's Picnic in the Park Collection that is also available in the Paper Issues store here

Here is the story, and a few close ups:

..:: grill skills ::..

Hi Friends! I am up on the Paper Issues blog today with a layout for the Grill Skills challenge over in the Paper Issues {Friends and Fans} Facebook Group! I used the Simple Stories Summer Farmhouse collection and the Whip Up Some Baked Goods free cut file

I used the fantastic floral patterned paper for a strip down the center. Next I added some strips on either side from the 6x8 paper pad - and I used my machine to stitch it all down with red thread. Then, I grabbed some floral embellishments from the collection for my clusters.

I backed the cut file with some patterned paper and added some red embroidery floss in the holes of the handle (that's my favorite part!). This cute apron and grill fit the theme perfectly!

I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

..:: luck-o-the melon ::..

Hi Friends!  I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with this layout using three pieces of flair from the Brave Soul flair set in the {a flair for buttons} Etsy store. I am also using PinkFresh Studio's Super Cool and My Favorite Story collections, both available in the Paper Issues Store. Here is a look at my layout.

I was inspired by the Monochromatic Fanatic challenge over in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} FB page. For the month of March we are using mostly GREEN on our project for this challenge. I wanted to add a few pops of black and white to break up all the green -- and that's where the flair came in! Here are a few close ups:

I thought the speech bubble "Live life on your terms" fit perfectly with the "Wander without reason" flair!

I did a bunch of stitching behind the whole layout, just to add some fun texture and more green to the page. I also had a little fun with the title.

And here is a look at the story behind the photo:

I made a video of my process, if that's something that suits your fancy!

..:: cheap trick ::..

Hello!  I am up on the A Flair for Buttons blog with a layout using some beautiful black and white flair from three different flair sets!  I used Amy Tangerine's Slice of Life collection that I purchased at Paper Issues (use the code OrangeGearle for 20% off you purchase). Here is my layout :

I started this layout by typing up my journaling in the Silhouette software. Then I had my Cameo print the journaling on white card stock using a sketch pen. I knew I wanted to tell a longer story for this one, so I incorporated it into the design of the page.

This story is about an experience at a Cheap Trick concert, so the notes in the Rock On 3 Flair were perfect for this layout. I also loved the idea of the black and white, so I grabbed a couple of other black and white pieces, too.

I layered some papers from the 6x6 paper pad behind my photo and popped the photos up with craft foam. I put the other two pieces of flair on either side to create a visual triangle on the page.

This flair came from the Bright Triangle Flair set.

This piece came from the Brave Soul Flair set. I love this piece so much!!

Finally I added a few colorful pieces of patterned paper in strips at the bottom, a boarder at the top with a piece of 12x12 paper from the collection, a few bits of thread, some stitching and splatters to finish it off. I just love layouts with black and white and pops of color!

..:: favorite circles ::..

Hi Friends! I am  up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with this layout using three pieces of flair from the Geo Love Flair Set. I am using mostly Pinkfresh Studio papers from the Flyover States July kit from Paper Issues.

I started by formatting my photo in Photo Shop so that it was shaped like a circle and just under 3 inches. Then I used my 3 inch punch to punch my photo out with a bit of a white border.

The Pinkfresh studio paper from their Office Hours collection had tons of circles on it -- so I punched them out as well using my 1, 1.5, and two inch paper punches. I also punched some tiny circles that I'm going to guess are 1/2 inch or smaller! I splattered some inks for pops of color, and then I sprinkled the circles across the page and added my flair! I mean you cannot have a circle layout without flair, right?

This flair matches the colors of this collection perfectly!

When I shared this photo as an instagram post I titled it "some of my favorite circles", which became the title for this layout. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

..:: emerge ::..

Hi! I have a new layout using the November Clique Kit, Seneca Falls.  This kit is full of a bunch of Amy Tangerine's Shine On collection, and I love it!  Today I pulled a bunch of black and white papers and embellishments together and added some orange and aqua accents.  Here is my layout:

I used the Spread Your Wings cut file from The Cut Shoppe (available here) and cut it out of white card stock.  I added a bunch of layers behind my photos. Here are a few close ups:

Behind my photo I added tissue paper and some patterned paper from the 6x6 paper pad in the Shine On collection.

I added lots of layers of flowers -- from the die cuts, the stickers and the printable in the kit. Here are a couple more close ups.

I also made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thank you for stopping by! Tomorrow I will have another layout and video to share with you!

..:: sweet kisses ::..

Hi friends! I am up on The Cut Shoppe and {A Flair for Buttons} blogs with this layout today!  I used flair from the Hashtag Summer flair set and the Primary Arrows flair set. The cut file I used is called Flower Arrangement and it was new to Th Cut Shoppe last week!

I started with white card stock and a brayer. I recently purchased Vicki Boutin art crayons and I wanted to try them out! So I used a couple of the yellow crayons, water, and a brayer to create my background.   Next, I grabbed the 6x6 paper pad from Pinkfresh Studio's Simple & Sweet collection to back a few of the petals on the flowers. I love how this turned out!

I layered some patterned papers, embellishments and tissue paper behind my photo. The I grabbed my new flair from {a flair for buttons} and found a few that matched perfectly! This #family one is my favorite and it is from the Hashtag Summer flair set. I also used a couple of pieces of flair from the Primary Arrows 1 flair set for extra pops of color.

I added a bunch of stitching around my page and through my title to finish it off. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy.

..:: enjoy the journey embrace the detours ::..

Hi friends I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog with this layout using flair from Just Hearts 2 FlairHello Life Flair, and Lovely Words 2.  I started with a piece of white card stock and created my background using several (new) Shimmerz Paints!  Here is my layout:

I made a background by painting stripes with four different colors of Shimmerz. And I love how it turned out. I used Shimmerz Limoncello, It's Mint to Be, Lilac Bloom, and Orange Sherbet. Here is what it looks like up close.

Next I picked out three pieces of flair from {a flair for buttons} and decided that the Pinkfresh Studio collections of Be You, Let Your Heart Decide, and Case of the Blahs went together quite nicely!  Here are the flairs up close!

My title is a quote --- something to remember for me and my daughter (and whoever else looks at this LO in years to come) -- Enjoy the Journey and Embrace the Detours. This quote fits my photos perfectly. It was before school/work and my daughter decided to take a moment to blow the dandelion seeds around. Instead of saying what I wanted to, "Come on we are going to be late," I decided to stop, enjoy the moment, and take a few pictures. It was a good decision.

I added a bunch of stitching to this layout to finish it off. I also made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

If you decide to purchase something from the Shimmerz Store....remember if you put my name in the comments you will get a little something extra with your order!
