..:: fly high ::..

Hi Friends! I am up on The Cut Shoppe Blog today with a layout I made using a new cut file called Flutterby. I also used a bunch of Shimmerz Paints on my background and I love how it turned out -- here is my project.

I knew I wanted to use Paige Evans' Pick Me Up collection that I had just gotten in the mail from the Paper Issues Store, so I grabbed a bunch of Shimmerz products to match the colors in the collection. I used several Creameez, an Inklings, some Vibez, and a Coloringz! For a complete list, check the comments in the process video.

I actually cut this file twice. The first time I cut it too small -- so I cut it again. I used the larger piece for my main circle of butterflies. I cut three of the smaller butterflies out of the circle (with my scissors) and layered them on top. I love how that ended up working out!

I also made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

Don't forget, if you are purchasing any Shimmerz products, put my name (orange gearle) in the comments and you will get a little something extra in your order!

Thanks so much for stopping by and see you again soon!

..:: hello spring break ::..

Hi Friends! I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog today with this layout about Spring Break!  Here's my layout:

I used the Hello Spring cut file and the Up and Down background file from The Cut Shoppe as part of my title and my background. I think that Hello Spring cut file is one of my all time favorites!

I used a BUNCH of Shimmerz Paints to add a water color look to the cut file (for a full list of Shimmerz Products used, check out the description box in the process video). I used the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful collection for my patterned papers (purchased from Paper Issues) and I added some gold elements with thread and alphas.

This piece of flair from the Inspirational Words 1 Flair  fit the feel of the layout perfectly -- and I simply love the design. The flower and the text are perfection.

I also used these butterflies from Color Cast Designs March release. I love them. I should buy some more for sure. Here are a couple more close ups:

I also made a process video if that suits your fancy! The description box includes all of the Shimmerz Paints that I used on this project!

Thank you so much for stopping by -- and I'll see you again soon!

..:: sunshine and rainbows ::..

Hi I am up on The Cut Shoppe blog with my first layout for them as a member of the Design Team. I did a lot of hand stitching on this layout! Here is what I came up with:

I used two cut files for this layout. First I set up my Silhouette Cameo to cut holes in my card stock using the Dainty Doily cut file. For some reason when I saw this cut file I couldn't stop seeing rainbows -- so I stitched rainbows!  I also used the Happy Clouds cut file
And here are a couple close ups:

I used Color Cast Designs Sunshine and Rainbows from the March Release as my title (and I painted it black)! I also used some flair from {a flair for buttons} for the perfect touch.

I made a video of my process if that something that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by! See you again soon!

:: daddy & me ::

Hi!  Today at Paper Issues we are spotlighting the Bella Rouge collection from Pink Paislee!  I am loving this collection so much that I've made quite a few layouts with it already (Those alphas especially are to die for)!

For the journaling on this layout I used a direct quote from my daughter.  She said this when she was looking at the photo which was taken a few days before. I love the idea of using direct quotes on my pages -- I do it a lot in Project Life, but I loved using it here as well.  And did you notice the type??  I used my new-to-me typewriter!  So. FUN.

Aren't these papers fab??? In addition to the collection, I also purchased It Adds Up from The Cut Shoppe.  I thought that this lovely cut file by Ashley Horton went with the background paper perfectly!

I backed a few of the + with yellow patterned paper (from the collection) and I stitched all over the thing. Gah! I  love stitching -- especially messy stitching!

I absolutely love the ephemera pack that goes with this collection! It comes with paper die cuts and acetate -- I used both -- because fun!

Try this | Try using a quote from someone else in your layout.  So often we journal a story from our point of view, which is wonderful, and it's also nice to hear from someone else in the family! An easy way to make this happen is simply to show your child, significant other, friend, parent, etc. a photo that they are in and ask them to tell you about how they were feeling, or what they were doing when that story was happening; that photo was taken.  I will surely do this again!

Check out what some other members of the Design Team at Paper Issues did with the lovely Bella Rouge collection from Pink Paislee by hopping over to the Paper Issues blog here.
