..:: crazy sock day ::..

It's time again to get out the mixed media materials for Mix It Up Monday over on the Paper Issues Blog!  The challenge this month: use stencils. If you are someone that has never used stencils before, just use them! If stencils are something that you do use, try using them in a different way. A few examples might be: use a stencil you make from a cut file, use mist, use acrylic paint, use water colors, use stamping ink, use texture paste, use the negative of the stencil, use the stencil as a stamp, etc.  Here's my take on the challenge:

I used stencils and ink pads for this layout! Here are a few close ups:

And finally I did create a short video of the technique I used, if that suits your fancy.

I hope you play along with us this month! Grab those stencils and get busy!

:: beautiful :: (with video)

Hello! Today I have a process video to share with you!  This is my first attempt at a process video with a traditional layout.  Thank you for stopping by and watching my first Project Life process video -- and for coming back!! :-)

Please, please, please, give me feedback!  (I know that the bottom of the LO is not showing for parts of this video and I apologize, thank you to my online friends for encouraging me to post it anyway)!

Credits:
  • Most of my patterned papers and stickers came from this Scrapbook Circle Kit (Bucket List -- sold out)!  I can't believe I am coming up on three years as a subscriber to these kits.  I still love every ounce of them!
  • I also used this awesome Diana Fisher sketch from the Scrapbook Circle Blog.  Don't forget there is a free cut file as well! There is still time to submit to the challenge (April 23)!
  • Many of my other embellishments, sequins, buttons, etc. (and a couple of stickers) came from the April Swag Bag over at Paper Issues.  I just subscribed to these "swag bags"and I'm really liking what I've received so far!  I will be linking this layout up with PI's current issue "Pitch Perfect" because I used a song lyric (my title). There is still time to link up to this challenge as well (April 27)!

Thanks for stopping by!

..:: project life : week 10 ::.. (with video)

This is my first attempt at creating a process video. The most difficult part : finding a time without distractions that is also a time that it's still light outside!  :-)

Please let me know in the comments if you have any questions, or if there is something specific that you would like to see in future videos. This was kinda fun.  As long as it remains fun, I will keep making them here and there.  :-)

:: plant shopping ::

Yesterday we went to the store to purchase the last of the flowers for the year (I say that, but, of course, since I am not the flower purchaser, planter, or care taker, I could be totally wrong that it's the last batch, but I think he's getting close).  Every year My One True Love transforms our back yard, deck and patio into a beautiful oasis that helps us escape, enjoy and entertain. Each year B. becomes more and more involved in the process.
The first thing she saw that she really, really  wanted was watermelons (and pumpkins, but watermelons were the fave). We don't really have the space for that, so they were eventually put back, but look at that face??!!  The Grandma's saw these photos on Facebook and decided that either one of the may have the space for watermelons.  :-)  I'll keep you updated.
Early on in the process she saw that they had wagons.  This was a hit.  She was totally in charge of the wagon.
this wagon photo is probably my favorite one of the day
At three, she is such a little sponge and mimic. As she would pick out plants, Daddy would check the tags. At one point, early on in the adventure, he looked at a tag and said something about this plant not doing well in the full sun. So, that lead to her checking the tags and saying, "Those won't work in the sun." very confidently and convincingly, as if she had really read that. Or, if she really wanted to know, she would just pull it out and ask us (and yes, @3 she asks lots of questions)!
Another phrase we heard frequently, "These are kinda cute." She was saying that exact phrase as she was looking the plants in the photo above. This phrase would typically be heard right before she would try to pick up the entire tray of plants that were "cute" (or pretty, or pink, usually all three). Apparently, we haven't learned that "less is more".

The conversation that prompted me to take the above photo went like this:
B: "Hey Dad, we need more. See, there're spaces!"
Daddy: "Honey, we don't have to fill up the wagon."

So love her.
Shopping for plants with the family is magic for sure.

Call me crazy, but you just might see these photos again really soon on a layout. ;-)

Here's a short video clip that I captured. Just prior to this video, Daddy taught her how to smell the leaves of a mint plant. So of course, she had to smell the leaves of all the plants...
Join me tomorrow for another Scrap Your Story Challenge reveal!

~ two vids and a pic ~

Today B. and I went on a short walk. Although we live in town, there is a family farm across the street that must be grandfathered in because they have a couple horses. We don't often see them out and about, but today was an exception.

Like I mentioned in my previous post, lately the things she says just cracks me up! This video is of her eating yogurt and blackberries....

When she says "huge" then asks "Where did enormous go?" she is talking about the sunflower that used to be on the deck. It was cut down recently because it had seen better days!
