..:: super tween ::..

Hi, friends! I am up on the {a flair for buttons} blog with a layout using flair from the Bee Mine flair set! Here is a look at my project:

AFFBSuperTweenFlowers

To tell this story I decided to pull the yellow out of her shirt - and create a monochromatic look. I started with a couple of  Distress Oxides (Wild Honey and Mustard Seed) to create a space to house my photo and embellishments. I love using Distress Oxides and water to create backgrounds. Here is a close up of the flair.

I grabbed a bunch of yellow flowers from Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Sunkissed collection to cluster around the page. Some came from the embellishment pack and some I fussy cut from patterned papers. Finally I used a stamp designed by Vicki Boutin to create more texture and pops of black around the page.

For the title I used Elle's Studio Jordan Alpha stamps (both the Outline and the Dots & Stripes). I filled some of the letters in with patterned papers as well.

I love how this one turned out. I also made a video of the process, if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by and checking it out! XO o.g.

..:: so fun ::..

Hi Friends!  It's Scraplift Sunday time!  I am up on the Paper Issues Blog today with my take on the our scrap lift this week! We are lifting MandaJane today and you can find her layout here. Here is my layout using the gorgeous Cocoa Vanilla Studio Legendary Collection :

Here is a look at the original :

I stuck pretty close to the original -- one photo, three strips of patterned paper, three clusters, etc. I switched it up a bit by making one of my clusters include journaling instead of ephemera, and my strips are more "wonky" and roughed up.  Here are a few close ups:

I added some wonky machine stitching and tangled thread to my layout as well. Just for a touch of color and added texture.

This was a fun one to scrap lift! I love Scraplift Sunday! I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

2020 blues

Hi Friends! I am up on the Papers Issues blog today with a layout I created for the February Name Game challenge in the Paper Issues {Friends and Fans} Facebook group!  Here's a look at my project:

Here is the idea of the challenge :  using the letters in your name, choose scrapbook elements that begin with each letter.   So I chose to use my social media name "Orange" Gearle. I used : Orange, Ripped paper, Arrow, Numbers, Grid design (and green and grey), and Ephemera. Here are a few close up images:

I added some mixed media to the background and then some fun layers and tangled thread for added pops of color and texture.

I told the story with a few strips of journaling. I also added a card behind the journaling that contained the lyrics to the song that she wrote, called 2020 Blues

I chose items mostly from the Unforgettable collection by Cocoa Vanilla Studios. This challenge was super fun! I enjoyed brain storming a list of ideas for each letter. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thank you for stopping by!  See you again soon! XO o.g.

..:: world kindness day ::..

Hello Friends!  I am up on the Paper Issues Blog today with a layout for the Take 5 Challenge going on over in the Paper Issues {Friends & Fans} Facebook group.  For this challenge I used 2 photos, silver, sequins, black, and enamel dots.  Here is a look at my layout:

Here is the challenge:

I started with the Heart Multiplied free cut file from Paper Issues. I used white card stock to cut it out, with the idea that I would back it with pretty papers!  There are hearts included in the cut file that you can cut to back the file -- it works perfectly. I used papers from the 6x8 pad in the Unforgettable collection from Cocoa Vanilla Studio to cut out hearts to back my file, and a few extras to layer. Here are a couple close ups:

Once I had the file backed, I sewed down the of the filled hearts using my sewing machine.  I also layered some extra hearts, sewing them down the middle, to use as embellishment across my page. I grabbed some flowers and leaves from the embellishment package and clustered those around the page as well.

I made a video of my process, if that's something that suits your fancy!

You can find this and all of our current challenges in the January Challenges album in our Facebook Group. You have plenty of time to participate. Play along until February 2, for a chance to win a gift card to the Paper Issues Store. Shop the store using the code OrangeGearle for 20% off your purchase.

Thanks for stopping by today, and I will see you again soon! XO o.g.

..:: colorful you ::..

Hi!  I'm back with another layout and a challenge for you! I am using the Clique Kits iNSD limited edition kit full of Cocoa Vanilla Studio's Happiness collection. Here is my layout:

I fussy cut those butterflies from a sheet of 12x12 paper in the kit. I love how it turned out!  Do you like the rainbow trend? Well, that's my challenge for you! Make a rainbow in some way on your layout and share it with us in The Clique FB group! Here are a few close ups.

I stitched through each of the butterflies with similar colored thread. I also used those threads behind the photo, just for fun pops of color.

This was supper fun to make!  I have a video of my process, if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thank you so much for stopping by!  See you again soon!  XO o.g.

..:: hello beautiful ::..

There's a new Product Spotlight up on the Paper Issues Blog today!  Any time I get a chance to use Cocoa Vanilla Studio's products, I jump at the chance. As soon as I took these Snap Chat photos with flower crowns, I knew I wanted to use this collection to scrap it!

I absolutely love the watercolor look of this paper. But I can't really do a layout these days without adding a little bit to the background. 😜 So I grabbed a purple and a blue gelato and mixed them together to get this beautiful color! I love it!

I used just about every flower in the die cut pack, and three of the flair buttons! This is such a beautiful collection, I had a difficult time stopping!

I already have a couple more projects planned with this collection and I imagine I will use every last scrap of it! I love it!
