..:: for the love of music ::..

Hello friends! I am up on The Cut Shoppe Blog with a spread in my Traveler's Notebook using the Love Rules cut file.  Here is a look at my two page spread using mostly Dear Lizzy's latest collection.

Here is a better look at the cut file!

I cut the file using white card stock and then I backed it with a beautiful green patterned paper. The other side was full of hearts -- that I thought went well with the XOXO pattern of the cut file! I added my journaling to the left side of the spread with a few stickers from the collection.

The right side houses my title and my photo. This photo is of some books in our living room!  I was dusting and as I was putting the books back, I realized they had a theme, so I took a photo!

I love using the Cut Shoppe cut file for TNs. It helps the project to come together so quickly!  I also made a video of my process!

Thank you so much for stopping by! XO o.g.

..:: better together ::..

Hi friends! I have a layout and process video to share with you using the June Clique Kits.

I started by ripping the patterned papers to create a vertical, The green paper is from Heidi Swapp and the pink paper is from 1 Canoe 2 Goldenrod collection.

I used the vellum specialty paper from Maggie Homes It's All Good collection -- it has beautiful gold accents. I fussy cut the flowers and tucked them into the layers. I used even more of this paper (fussy cut) on the far left side of the layout. I also fussy cut some strawberries out of a patterned paper from the same collection and tucked those in for another pop of color.

The hearts and ephemera are mostly from 1 Canoe 2 Goldenrod collection.

I really like how this one turned out. I made a video of my process if that's something that suits your fancy. Thanks for checking it out!

See you again soon! XO o.g.

..:: stay magical ::..

Hi Friends! I am up on The Cut Shoppe Blog today with this layout using the Bermuda Triangle cut file and the Dear Lizzy Stay Colorful collection that I purchased at the Paper Issues Store.

Here is the great cut file!  I love the wonky triangles!

 Here are a few close ups!

I backed the triangles with little bits from the 6x6 paper pad that comes with the collection.

I used some butterflies from the ephemera pack, and added more by fussy cutting them out of the 6x6 pad!

I added some tangled thread in all the right places, a few Tim Holtz phrase stickers, and some sequins to finish it off!

So something that's awesome for me this week is that I learned how to use my Silhouette Cameo and sketch pens to journal on my layout!  Woot!  A good friend of mine showed me how and I tried it and I liked it. You might see all my journaling this way for a while. LOL :-)

I made a process video, if that's something that suits your fancy!

Thanks so much for stopping by! I will see you again soon!  XO o.g.

..:: sunshine and rainbows ::..

Hi I am up on The Cut Shoppe blog with my first layout for them as a member of the Design Team. I did a lot of hand stitching on this layout! Here is what I came up with:

I used two cut files for this layout. First I set up my Silhouette Cameo to cut holes in my card stock using the Dainty Doily cut file. For some reason when I saw this cut file I couldn't stop seeing rainbows -- so I stitched rainbows!  I also used the Happy Clouds cut file
And here are a couple close ups:

I used Color Cast Designs Sunshine and Rainbows from the March Release as my title (and I painted it black)! I also used some flair from {a flair for buttons} for the perfect touch.

I made a video of my process if that something that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by! See you again soon!

..:: adventure ::..

Hi friends! Today I have a layout for you that I made using the October Hip Kit Club Kits! My assignment this week was a sketch  and here is my take on it:

I pretty much love everything about the October kits and this lovely color that I focused on is to die for. There are papers, embellishments and Shimmerz that all work together perfectly.

I thought this was the perfect phrase for this layout of me and my daughter trying something for the first time (her, not me)! She was brave and didn't let her "head" get in the way as she was learning to skate.

I cut some stars and stitched them down with gold thread. I also added color to that giant title from Dear Lizzy (spoiler alert, you are going to see more of these)!

I absolutely love this Shimmerz color --- Old Yeller Inklings --- it's a perfect golden, shimmery, yellow. I made a process video, if that suits your fancy!

Thanks for stopping by! See you again soon!

..:: seriously, don't grow up ::..

The Quotable Challenge is up at Paper Issues today!  This month I played along. Here is the quote:

And here is my take on the quote:

As soon as I saw that chipboard phrase in the Dear Lizzy Lovely Day collection, I knew it was perfect for this quote challenge! In fact, I used all Dear Lizzy on this layout! Here are a few close ups.

I did some fussy cutting for this one. I cut out a bunch of the flowers (black line, doodle almost), and water colored some of them. I liked the pop of black and white, but also wanted some color, so I used both! LOL  I layered them on top of each other for a bit of dimension.

There are a ton of cute little puffy stickers in this collection. I used a bunch, and some enamel dots, too.

All the gold in this photo meant I needed to add a bunch of gold thread throughout the layout. 💟

Hope you enjoyed this one -- I loved making it!  I hope you play along with us -- details here.  Grab some Dear Lizzy or anything you need from the Paper Issues Store and use the code 'orange gearle' for 20% off your order.

:: end of an era ::

It's product spotlight time on the Paper Issues blog! Today design team members are showing off Dear Lizzy's Documentary collection.

I started with white card stock and used papers mostly from the 6x6 paper pad for this layout. I got a little messy with a few paint spatters and some messy stitching. I added some of the puffy stickers and little wooden bits from the collection as well.  I love the yellow and pink pastel-ish colors with that black contrast!

The story is all about our neighborhood kids playing together on A's last night in the neighborhood (she's moved to a new house)! In this particular photo they were picking who was "it" by saying the "bubble gum, bubble gum, in a dish" rhyme. So I scribbled that rhyme around the outside of the stitching over and over.

I also used the roller stamp that came in the Dear Lizzy collection -- this one says "follow your heart". Love it!

Cassie is adding new things to the store all the time -- I've seen fall collections and Christmas collections and all kinds of other new yumminess -- check it out here. And don't forget to use the code 'orangegearle' for 20% off your entire purchase!

:: jumpin' puddles ::

Hello friends!  Today I'm here with a layout that created using mostly Pink Paislee : Citrus Bliss, and AC Dear Lizzy : Fine & Dandy.  These collections go together beautifully and I love the springy-summery feel of them!

The right side of my layout is actually a scrap lift! More on that below! Our B. had been playing in all the puddles in our back yard and we captured a zillion photos (in fact, enough that there will probably be another layout in the future that contains a separate part of today's story). There were so many good ones, that I almost immediately printed them off, grabbed some new(er) patterned papers and got busy!

The hearts are from the Dear Lizzy Fine & Dandy collection.  There was a whole sheet of them! I cut out what I needed for this project, but I've used more of that paper in other projects.  I love it!   In fact, the "b" side of that paper is the polka dot paper you see on the bottom half of this page!

To tie the two pages together I did a few things; I took the hearts all across the second page, the patterned papers from the left side are on the very edge of the right side too, and those little bright strips of paper are on both sides.  I am really digging how this one turned out!

The right page is actually a scrap lift of a layout that fellow Paper Issues DT member, .Jana McCarthy  did.  It was the layout that all of the awesome people in the Paper Issues Friends and Family group (PIFF) on Facebook scrap-lifted a couple of weeks ago.  Are you part of the PIFF group?  If you are on Facebook, you should join us, we are a ton of fun!  (click link above)   :-)

Here are a couple of close ups of my LO.

Thanks for stopping by and see you soon!

:: sewing with dad ::

Hi ! I'm up on the Paper Issues blog today with a layout that I created using Dear Lizzy's Serendipity collection and the January Sketch by Jen Chapin

I love the aqua, navy and pinks in this collection! If you limit the pink and add a bit of the yellow included in the collection you can get a more masculine feel to your layout, too. I love the versatility of this collection!

I also used the free cut file from the shop that is based on Jen's sketch -- which made this come together quickly.

Pop dots and stitching to add interest and texture. I also added a few things from my stash (most of which were actually from past Swag Bags).

I love these alphas!  Gah!  I may need to purchase some more!

And finally, it's all about the story. I used my new-to-me typewriter with some vellum to document the story that goes with these photos. I added the vellum over the patterned paper and sewed it in to place. The vellum helps tone down the paper a bit so that the text is more visible.

You can link your layout based on Jen's sketch to the Paper Issues blog, too. You could win a gift card to the Paper Issues store.  While you're there, you can use the code 'orangegearle' for 20% off your entire purchase.
